Millefiori glass, coin shaped green and blue beads (1cm), bring such beauty to this piece! Their uniqueness is the key to this necklace. These beads are not big (between 1/4 and 1/2 inch in diameter), yet the tiny flower designs within each bead give it such detail!
The flat coin shaped beads are Millefiori Beads. Millefiori beads are made using canes (rods) of glass, with beautiful patterns that can only be seen at the rod ends. It is heated, then cooled, and then cut into beads, so their color is present throughout the bead, not just on the surface where it might otherwise fade or chip.
